The green silk road

Connecting regenerative projects across Eurasia

while finding alternatives for air travel

The ancient Silk Road was a lifeline connecting continents and channelling goods, services, philosophy and innovation. It was a product of its time. What would such a route look like today? What kinds of ideas and valuables want to be carried along its path? How can the exchanges themselves be an example of the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible?

We started exploring overland travel between India and Europe in 2018 and got to know many inspiring people and projects along the way, working on Bioregion Regeneration in different ways: some bring rivers and forests back to life, some set up alternative schools, others create art that shapes the stories we tell each other about who we are as people.

By now the GSR has evolved into a platform for travel, trade and training. Keeping place based initiatives at the centre, we create value chains that generate income for community based ventures, we organise learning journeys and art programs, and of course we keep weaving across borders and across sectors.
